Today, we want to share some important updates about how autotrainers will function in Legacy V2, and why we felt changes were necessary to bring them more in line with manual training.

With the new training system, where the player adjusts their ‘training style’ in the amount of pressure they use, how much positive reinforcement they give, and how long training sessions are, we originally planned to make a variety of NPCs with different ‘training styles’ to serve as auto trainers. You would need to select one based on the training style that suits your horse.

However, we’re making some important changes to how autotraining functions—focused on making it smarter, more dynamic, and better aligned with manual training.

Autotrainers will now operate through a single toggle, just like in V1, but with one key difference: they will adapt to your horse over time. Instead of using fixed values, autotrainers will start with randomized input levels for reinforcement, pressure, and time. As they receive feedback from your horse during training sessions, they will automatically adjust those inputs up or down, gradually learning the most effective approach for each individual horse.

Each horse’s training responses will be tracked and recorded. You’ll be able to view the most recent feedback right on the horse’s training page, providing valuable insight into that horse’s personality and training preferences. Additionally, the autotrainer’s slider settings will be saved, so if you choose to switch to manual training, you can continue from where the autotrainer left off without losing progress.

This new system mirrors the trial-and-error process used in hand training, offering a more realistic and effective alternative to manual input. It also keeps the playing field more balanced between training methods, while giving players flexibility in how they choose to manage their horses. We’re excited about this improvement and believe it will make autotraining a much more strategic and rewarding option in V2. More updates to come as we continue to refine the training system!
